Wayne Wells Obituary, Fort Wayne Indiana, Native Has Sadly Passed Away

Wayne Wells Obituary, Death – On February 20, 2023, Wayne Howard Wells, who was 71 years old and lived in Gurnee, Illinois, passed away in a gentle manner with his cherished wife at his side. On June 27, 1951, he was born in Joliet, Illinois, to the late Howard Austin Wells and Marie Frances Wells. His parents have now passed away. (Shedek).

His older brother Charles Arthur Wells and his older sister Lois Marie Hassel both passed away before him. After completing his education at Antioch High School and serving in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War, Wayne went on to earn a degree in Agriculture from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.

After working for Abbott Laboratories and Hospira for more than 25 years, he eventually retired. For four decades, he attended the St. Patrick Catholic Church in Wadsworth with unwavering devotion as a parishioner. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather, and he cherished spending as much time as he could with his family. He enjoyed giving his family all of his time.

In addition to his service on the Hickory Union Cemetery Board for more than two decades, he coached hundreds of children and teenagers over the course of seven years at Warren Youth Football and Gurnee Youth Baseball. His wife Patricia Ann Wells (Harris) of Gurnee, Illinois, his son Brett Michael Wells and his wife Emily, both of Lincoln, Nebraska and his grandson Benjamin Michael Wells, also of Lincoln, Nebraska, are his survivors.

Donations to the Gurnee Fire Department might be made in lieu of flowers if someone so desires. On Friday, February 24, visitation will be held from 4 to 8 pm at the STRANG FUNERAL HOME OF ANTIOCH, which is located at 1055 Main Street (Route 83) in Antioch, Illinois 60002. On Saturday, February 25, at 10 am, there will be a funeral liturgy held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church located at 1500 Wadsworth Road in Wadsworth, Illinois 60083. His cremains will be laid to rest in a private ceremony at Hickory Union Cemetery, which is located at 9300 W Edwards Road in Antioch, Illinois 60002.
