Stephen Moon Obituary, Death – Bedford Conservative Council Group announces the passing of Cllr Stephen Moon, former Group Leader and current Councillor for Great Barford Ward. Since 2011, Councilman Moon has served in Bedford Borough Council, most recently as Chair of the Budget Scrutiny Committee and previously as Group Leader (from 2013 till 2019). In the 1980s, Stephen also worked as a councilman for the London borough of Camden.
Cllr Graeme Coombes, current leader of the Conservative Group, said: “Our hearts are broken by the loss of a dear friend and respected coworker. Throughout his time as Leader, Stephen distinguished himself and the Group with his innate leadership skills and unwavering commitment to duty. When talking about the Council’s finances, it was clear that his mind was quick and that he had a forensic eye for the details. His understanding of planning, especially the Local Plan, was highly regarded by his fellow Conservatives.
The people he represented held him in high esteem, and he was grateful for the various ways in which they supported him. Stephen took his position as a ward Councillor seriously and was looking forward to running again in the May local elections to serve the residents of Great Barford ward. Stephen was hilarious and a terrific sounding board for anyone who needed it. The Conservative Group has lost a true friend, and I will miss his sound advice and quick humor. Our hearts go out to Martine, their two sons, and the rest of their family and friends who knew and loved him.”
