Roy Walters Obituary, Enterprise Preservation Society Mourns The Death Of Roy Walters

Roy Walters Obituary, Death – Roy Walters, who served as our treasurer and primary supporter, passed away recently, and the Enterprise Preservation Society (EPS) notes this event with a heavy heart. It is hardly an exaggeration to argue that if it were not for his generosity, the Enterprise Museum would not be there today. In 2003, he made a donation to EPS that enabled the organization to purchase the site and therefore prevent the demolition of Enterprise Elementary School Building.

Following the building’s relocation and placement on its new foundation, Roy educated and led a group of volunteers in the process of meticulously restoring it to the splendor it had formerly possessed. In order to get the museum ready for its inauguration in 2014, Roy personally put in hundreds of hours stripping, sanding, and varnishing the woodwork, restoring doors, windows, and light fixtures, and working on a wide variety of other projects.

Since that time, Roy has been a member of the board of directors for EPS and has provided help to the museum in a variety of ways, such as performing pressure washing, filing taxes, and playing the trumpet at holiday festivities. The respect, awe, and thankfulness that the Enterprise community feels for Roy Walters cannot be adequately conveyed through the use of any language. Everyone who knew him, including the members of the EPS board, the director of the museum, and all of our volunteers and members, will miss him terribly.
