Lauren Vaughn Car Accident, Alexandria Louisiana, Woman Killed in Avoyelles Parish Crash

Lauren Vaughn Car Accident – On April 7, 2023, at about 7:40 p.m., members of Louisiana State Police Troop E responded to a crash that involved a single car that had occurred on Louisiana Highway 1176 close to Louisiana Highway 29. Lauren C. Vaughn, who was 22 years old, passed away as a result of the accident.

The preliminary inquiry found that a 2021 GMC Sierra driven by Christopher R. McCoy, who was 23 years old and from Bunkie, was heading east on Louisiana Highway 1176. The circumstances surrounding why McCoy’s vehicle left the lane and went down the ditch embankment, where it collided with a culvert and a tree before flipping over onto its roof are still being investigated.

Since McCoy was not handcuffed, he was able to incur moderate injuries and was sent to the nearby hospital for treatment. Vaughn, who was being held down, ended up getting seriously hurt and was pronounced dead at the scene of the incident. It is believed that impairment played a role in this collision. In the course of routine toxicology, samples were collected and sent in for analysis.

The cause of this crash has not yet been determined. The Louisiana State Police would like to remind all drivers of the importance of putting their own feelings into consideration when behind the wheel. Many of the impacts that alcohol, prescription medicines, and other drugs have on the body can have a negative impact on a person’s ability to drive safely.

The visual abilities, the feeling of time and space, the fine motor skills necessary to operate a motor vehicle, and the reaction times of the user can all be negatively impacted by the use of these medications. Drivers are strongly urged to make pre-trip plans and select a sober driver for themselves. If you fail to do so, there could be fatal repercussions. In the year 2023, Troop E has been called to the scene of 15 deadly accidents, which have resulted in 16 deaths.
