Lauren Mccluskey Obituary, Death – Tonight’s episode of 20/20 will be anchored by David Muir and will focus on the investigation into the murder of student-athlete Lauren McCluskey. Was the University negligent in its duty to protect her? This is a tragedy of the highest order. Everyone else let Lauren down, and hopefully they all paid the price for it. I just want to clarify that this isn’t a problem that only affects the University of Utah. This is a problem that exists at campuses all around the country. During my first year of college, I was likewise the victim of someone following me about.
After that, I was harassed in my dorm, and numerous messages were left for me on the door of my dorm room. Despite the fact that there are personnel sitting at the front desk, there is no one supervising the people who are entering the college dorms. After my complaints about being harassed went unanswered, I decided to take matters into my own hands and was surprised to find that campus housing had undone all of the safety steps I had taken. I wanted a new lock installed on the door to my room because the one there didn’t work properly and the problem was never solved.
I ended up waking up around around three in the morning to discover that someone was in my room. There are several aspects of campus safety that educational institutions still need to work on improving. I cannot fathom what it must be like to be a parent in this nation and to be concerned about the well-being of one’s child when they are attending any level of educational institution, from kindergarten to college. She was let down by the system on every front, and my heart goes out to the family who had to say goodbye to their lovely daughter because of the incompetence of the local authorities and the campus security staff. I hope and pray that something of this nature never happens again!
