Jack Thornton Obituary, Jefferson County Resident Has Sadly Passed Away

Jack Thornton Obituary, Death – Jack Thornton, who was 65 years old and from Salem, passed away in the Henry County Health Center in Mt. Pleasant on March 22, 2023. Jack was the son of Jack’s father, Claude Albert Thornton, and his mother, Betty Ann (Davis), and was born on January 31, 1958, in Jefferson County, Iowa. In the Faith Lutheran Church in Mt. Pleasant on October 2, 1982, Jack and Becky Fetterman exchanged vows and became

husband and wife. Jack was employed by Blue Bird Midwest for 16 years till the company went out of business in 2003. After that, he spent the next 20 years working for Lynn Whaley. He had a passion for International tractors and was an active outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, farming, and raising cows. He also enjoyed working the land.

Jack never missed an opportunity to assist his loved ones, whether they be family or friends. He was a fan of country music and went to a lot of different jam sessions. The most important things in his life were his family and his grandchildren. Jack is survived by his wife of 40 years, Becky, his children, Megan (Jarod) Conrad and Natasha (Tommy Gatlin) Thornton all of Salem, his grandchildren, Chayse, Kota, and Val, his brother, Steve (Christina)

Thornton of Mt. Pleasant, his sisters, Rhonda (Bob) Fetterman and Chris (Tim) Jayne all of Mt. Pleasant, and Claudia Davis of Davenport, and his mother-in-law, Gee Gee Fetterman of Salem, along with several nieces and nephews. His parents and one of his brothers, Albert Thornton, as well as his father-in-law, Nathan (Shorty)

Fetterman, and one of his brothers-in-law, Ray (Skeeter) Davis, all passed away before he did. On Thursday, March 30, 2023, friends and family are welcome to stop by the Murphy Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant between the hours of 1 and 8 p.m. There will be no one from the family there. In his honor, a memorial has been established as a permanent contribution to the Salem Fire and Rescue Association. In accordance with his desires, the cremation will take place on Thursday after the conclusion of the calling hours.
