George Leary Obituary, Death – George Leary of Newport, Rhode Island has died. Attorney George J. Leary and Marion (McKenna) Leary, George’s parents, both went away before he was born; hence, he was given the name Marion in honor of his mother. Father to Suzanne Preziosi (Mark), and Paula Santangelo (Dino) of Wellesley.
Kathleen Mulcahy (Jack) of Quincy, George J. Leary III (late Carolyn) of Braintree, Marybeth Pidgeon (Norwood), Ellen Lawton (Braintree) (Robert) of Braintree, and Nancy Leary. He is survived by his children, as well as his grandchildren George J. Leary, (Milton). Grandfather to Julie, Mark, Michael, Catherine, Paul, Stephen, Caroline, John, Sarah, Laura, Jackie, Bobby, Kevin, and Brian. Great-grandfather to Meredith and William. Stephen, Julie, Mark, Michael, Catherine, and Paul’s grandfather.
Grandfather who loves and is kind to all of his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Brother of the late Honorable Paul K. Leary, a judge who subsequently retired with distinction, and the late Honorable Daniel F. Leary, a lawyer. George successfully fulfilled every criterion to graduate from Boston Latin School in 1950.
He graduated from Harvard University with a bachelor’s degree in 1954, and Boston University awarded him a juris doctorate the following year. He started off as a lawyer. He formerly held positions as Counsel for the law firm of Sarrouf, Tarricone & Flemming, as Assistant District Attorney for Suffolk County, and as Assistant General Counsel for the MBTA.
He is now employed by Suffolk County as an Assistant District Attorney. He is currently working by the business in the position of Counsel. George spent every summer of his life in Pocasset, where he kept a close group of friends, loved spending time with his family, and delighted in talking about his abiding passion for golf.
