Doug Molczyk Obituary, Death – A guy who was critically injured in a car accident earlier this month has sadly passed away, according to a recent notification received by the Columbus Police Department. Capt. Doug Molczyk of the Columbus Police Department stated that the department was informed on Friday afternoon that Karl J. Wlaschin, born on February 2, 1941, had passed away just after 1:00 p.m. on March 24. Molczyk stated that the delay in the dissemination of information was done out of respect for the family and to give them time to make notifications.
On March 20, 2023, officers from the Columbus Police Department arrived to the scene of a collision involving two vehicles that had occurred at the junction of 20th Street and 28th Avenue. After being involved in a collision with a white Cadillac XT5, a red Chevrolet Equinox ended up on its roof as a result of the collision. Karl J. Wlaschin, who was driving the Equinox, was discovered motionless and not breathing when authorities arrived. Wlaschin was taken to Columbus Community Hospital, where he was evaluated by medical professionals, before being transferred by helicopter to Bryan LGH in Lincoln for additional care.
This was made possible by the actions of law enforcement and emergency personnel. Police were able to determine that Darla M. Orender was behind the wheel of the Cadillac. According to the first findings of the inquiry, the accident took place when a Cadillac that was going in the opposite direction on 20th Street collided with a Chevrolet Equinox that was going in the opposite direction on 28th Avenue. The investigation into the incident is still ongoing, and there have been no charges brought forward as of yet.
