Deb Hays Obituary, Death – Commissioner Deb Hays of New Hanover County, North Carolina, passed away unexpectedly. It’s possible that Hays had a heart attack before he passed away. According to the Chair of the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners, Bill Rivenbark, “This is a shock for all of us, and it is a terrible loss for this board and everyone of New Hanover County.” “Deb was a longtime community advocate, a dedicated public worker, a friend and colleague, and most importantly a loving and proud mother and grandmother. She will be much missed by those who knew her.
She committed her entire life to serving others and assisting those in need, and she had a strong concern for this neighborhood. She will be sorely missed, and during this trying time, our thoughts and prayers are with her family and all of her friends. In December of 2020, Hays was elected to the position of commissioner, and he served on a large number of local, state, and national bodies. Also, she worked as a real estate agent with Intracoastal Realty.
During this difficult time, the New Hanover County Board of Commissioners wants the Hays family to know that they are in our thoughts and prayers. The New Hanover County flag will be lowered on all government facilities on Monday in her honor, and it will remain lowered during the season of sorrow and celebration of her life, according to a news statement issued by the county.
