Brandon Penny Obituary, Death – USA Weightlifting announces the passing of Director of Communications & Content Brandon Penny with great sorrow and broken hearts. Although having previously worked for the US Olympic & Paralympic Committee, Brandon has been a supporter of USA Weightlifting since the year 2020.
(USOPC). Brandon developed a reputation as an important team player, a friend to his staff, and the players whose experiences he enjoyed hearing. His first assignments were covering American weightlifters at the 2019 IWF World Championships in Pattaya, Thailand, and the 2019 IWF Youth World Championships in Las Vegas. Between these two competitions, Brandon collaborated closely with the Team USA personnel and our athletes to document our team members’ journeys and individual tales.
In everything he did, Brandon’s dedication, devotion, and enthusiasm for the Olympic and Paralympic movement and the individuals he worked with were clear. He authored only the best press releases, interviews, and articles, always putting the athlete first. For this, he went above and above. Behind the scenes, Brandon put forth a lot of effort to enable each athlete to share their unique narrative.
Being the focus of attention has never come naturally to Brandon. Before joining USA Weightlifting, Brandon was a highly regarded and well-known communications professional in the Olympic and Paralympic sports world. He began his career in the Olympic and Paralympic movement in 2010 as a USOPC intern. He started working with the USOPC as the Manager of Content Development and Digital Media from 2012 till 2018, and then as a Managing Editor, not long after finishing his internship.
In addition to overseeing the USOPC’s online media presence and serving as a press officer for many sports, Brandon traveled to numerous Summer and Winter Olympic Games. Brandon will be sorely missed by the weightlifting community. He put forth a lot of effort, and we cherish our time with him.
In attempting to present compelling athlete tales without Brandon’s voice, we’ll keep up the high standards he set for USA Weightlifting. We wish to send our heartfelt sympathies to Brandon’s family and friends and respectfully request that their privacy be observed while they grieve.
