James Timlin Obituary, Death- Bishop James C. Timlin, the eighth Bishop of Scranton, passed away while quietly resting in his sleep at Marywood Heights in Scranton in the early hours of Easter Sunday, April 9, 2023. He was the Bishop of Scranton at the time of his death. He was Scranton’s seventh Bishop during his time there. He was 95.

Bambera, Bishop of Scranton, said in a statement. “I extend my sympathy, condolences, and prayers to the family and friends of Bishop Timlin,” Bishop Bambera added. “My deepest sympathies, condolences, and prayers are with Bishop Timlin’s family and friends during this difficult time,” “Over the course of more than seven decades as a priest and later as a bishop, Bishop Timlin was a devout man of prayer who was committed to helping the faithful in the regions of northeastern and north central Pennsylvania.
Bishop Timlin deserves to be granted the gift of eternal life, and may God give those who loved and respected him the strength to get through this difficult time. During this trying time, the faithful of the Diocese of Scranton are being urged to pray for Bishop Timlin and his family in order to ease the burden that they are bearing. At the present moment, the last touches are being put on the funeral preparations. O Lord, may you bestow upon him the peace of eternity, and may the light that illuminates eternity shine upon him. By the mercy of God, may his soul and the souls of all the loyal people who have passed away find eternal rest; and may they be with him. Amen.
